Memoirs of a Geisha Novel review

Memoirs of a Geisha is a novel by American author Arthur Golden, published in 1997. The novel, told in first person perspective, tells the fictional story of a geisha working in Kyoto, Japan, before and after World War II


Tells about the journey of a Japanese Geisha, begin when she was a little girl, named Chiyo. Her family life was difficult at that time, their parents was forced to "sell" the second daughter, Chiyo and Satsu (Chiyo's sister) for her family's economy.
Page after page of the novel, tell about Chiyo how to survive in a okiya. And slowly but sure, showing that Chiyo / Pumpkin growing up as mature Geisha.

This novel was adaption to movie with same name at 2005. Produced by Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment andSpyglass Entertainment and by Douglas Wick's Red Wagon Productions.
